We design solar electricity systems specifically for harsh environments and have taken special care to create a robust system that will withstand the elements. Our systems are designed for use in locations where high ambient temperatures, salt-laden air, and risk of cyclones or flooding are to be expected.
PowerSmart’s systems are designed to withstand winds up to 125mph (Category 2 hurricanes peak out at 110 mph). Solar panels are typically built with high-strength tempered glass and are often rated to sustain direct hits from 1-inch hail at 50 mph. Since these arrays are typically mounted with the pitch of your roof (at an angle), it is unlikely for them to sustain a direct hit.
The corrosive environment caused by hydrogen sulphide (for example in Rotorua) is no greater than the corrosive environment in coastal regions. Aluminium joinery used for windows and doors has lesser quality anodisation than ours, our system meets or exceeds the building code in this regard.
