Single phase is the most common type of supply for urban homes. If you are on single phase supply your PV system will be designed with a single phase inverter. You may also have a ripple control meter which can be combined into the import/export meter on request.
Three phase supply is most common in rural areas, commercial buildings or if you have large electricity loads. Your system can be designed with a single phase inverter connected to one of your three phases and electricity generated from your PV system will only be supplied to the loads on the same phase. It is possible that you will be exporting electricity on one phase while importing on your other phases. Our electrician will connect the solar power on your largest loaded phase when he installs the system.
Alternatively your system can be designed with a three phase inverter connected to all of your phases. Electricity generated from your PV system will be supplied to all of your loads. However, two phases can be importing and one exporting depending on the loads on each phase.
