Power prices still rising in NZ

Electricity Costs Rise

Against a background of the Greens Solar power finance policy a report commissioned by Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has found that over the last three years power prices have continued to rise.

'Since the campaigns were introduced three years ago, power prices had increased by an average of $243, and by $327 in central Auckland and Manukau.' NZ Herald.

For central Auckland this is a price increase of over $100 per year, at that rate people will be paying an additional $1000 / year in less than 10 years for their electricity.

This compares with reports coming out of Germany which is seeing spot prices dropping due to the increase in Solar PV production. We know in Germany this is due to government incentives, but solar power does work and more importantly can make a difference to everyone's lives not just the people who install solar PV panels. With the prices of installing Solar continuing to drop, alongside an environment of rising electricity prices this looks like another busy year ahead for the team at PowerSmart Solar.

"We have never had a project go so smoothly, they finished two weeks ahead of schedule."
